MACSEN STEEVES

Macsen Steeves is a dynamic, high-motor athlete competing at the varsity level across football, baseball, and basketball at Eagle River High School. Earning varsity opportunities since his freshman year, Macsen has consistently proven his ability to compete against upperclassmen while demonstrating the maturity, toughness, and leadership that coaches trust.
As a quarterback on varsity football, Macsen plays with poise, vision, and confidence. His ability to read the field, process coaching in real time, and lead teammates under pressure makes him a natural field general. JAIRUS MUA
Class of 2028 | 6'3 | 250 lbs
Defensive End
Standing 6’3” and 250 pounds, Jairus Mua is widely recognized as one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the state in the Class of 2028. Playing Defensive End, Jairus combines power, explosiveness, and relentless effort to disrupt offenses and control the line of scrimmage.
His impact on the field has already earned him 1st Team All-State Defensive End and 1st Team All-Conference honors, establishing him as a rising force and one of the premier defensive players in Alaska football.
Jairus brings a relentless motor, physical toughness, and a high football IQ that allows him to consistently pressure quarterbacks, shut down the run game, and lead by example. His presence demands attention from opposing offenses every snap.
Off the field, Jairus is just as disciplined. He remains committed to his academics, values time with his family, and serves faithfully as a drummer at his church, reflecting the character and humility that define him beyond the game.

ETHAN YARRINGTON

Ethan Yarrington is the definition of relentless determination and disciplined excellence. A dominant Linebacker and Running Back for South Anchorage High School, Ethan has built a reputation as one of the most physical and competitive players on the field. Standing 6’1” and 220 pounds, he possesses the strength, speed, and toughness to overwhelm opponents on both sides of the ball.
While his fierce style of play is well known, what truly separates Ethan is his elite work ethic. Behind the scenes, he dedicates countless hours year-round to strength training, conditioning, and agility development, consistently pushing himself to improve in every aspect of his game. That commitment translates directly to the field, where he plays with discipline, composure, and a relentless motor.
Ethan approaches every moment with the mindset to “act like you’ve been there before,” competing with confidence while maintaining respect for teammates and opponents alike. His leadership style is quiet but powerful—he leads through preparation, consistency, and execution.
As his Athletic Director noted when seeking approval for his Gatorade Player of the Year nomination:

WILSON LAWSON

Wilson is an elite wide receiver known for his speed, strong hands, and disciplined work ethic. As a dynamic playmaker, he consistently demonstrates the ability to stretch the field and make difficult catches in traffic. His excellent hand control and focus allow him to secure the ball even in tight coverage, making him a reliable target in critical situations.
Beyond his natural athletic ability, Wilson is extremely dedicated to improving his craft. He approaches every practice with intensity and focus, constantly working to refine his route running, timing, and overall football IQ. Coaches and teammates recognize his commitment, discipline, and team-first mindset.

Owen Harris

Owen Harris is a relentless, high-level athlete whose standard goes beyond hard work, driven by a mindset to be his best in every aspect of life. For the Class of 2029, he has become a dominant force at running back and outside linebacker.
As a running back, Owen combines explosiveness, football IQ, and work ethic to power through defenders and create big plays, averaging 4 touchdowns per game as a freshman. Defensively, he is a vocal, physical outside linebacker who brings energy and intensity every snap, earning Hitter of the Year honors.
A proven leader, Owen is a 4-time team captain who leads by example with unmatched enthusiasm and consistency. He is known as the engine of his team, dependable in key moments and committed to doing the little things right, whether it’s film study, footwork, or team responsibilities. Coaches consistently praise his coachability, attention to detail, and team-first mentality.
Off the field, Owen shows the same discipline. He trains daily, often starting at 5:30 AM, maintains a 4.1 GPA while taking AP and upper-level classes, and works on a farm during summers to fund his own training and travel, reinforcing humility and accountability.
He is also highly involved in extracurriculars, competing in wrestling and track, participating in multiple clubs, placing 2nd in state in Spanish 3 declamation after a regional win, and competing in the American Rocket Challenge. He was recently accepted into the highly selective United States Naval Academy Summer STEM Program, one of the most competitive programs in the country.
Grounded, respectful, and driven, Owen is the type of athlete who elevates those around him. His relentless pursuit of improvement, leadership, and commitment to excellence make him one of the most respected and promising young athletes in the state.

GIDEON MAKIHELE
Class of 2028 | West Anchorage High School | #73 | 6'3 | 280 lbs
OL/DL
Gideon Makihele is a 6’3”, 280 lb. standout lineman for West Anchorage, wearing his family number #73. As a freshman, he made program history as the first player in 16 years to earn a full-time varsity starting role, starting every game and earning All-Conference Honorable Mention.
He elevated his game as a sophomore, starting on both the offensive and defensive line while again starting every varsity game. His performance earned him First-Team All-Conference, First-Team All-State honors, and the role of team captain, highlighting his leadership and consistency.
Gideon is already drawing Division I interest and continues to emerge as a highly recruitable prospect, proudly following in his older brothers’ footsteps of earning opportunities out of Alaska.
Off the field, he maintains a 3.8 GPA while planning to pursue a degree in animation. His faith is central to his discipline and approach, and he actively serves his community and church, including volunteering at the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine. He comes from a strong football background, with two older brothers who played college football, including one who recently completed a pro day ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
With his size, versatility, production, and leadership, Gideon continues to establish himself as one of Alaska’s top young linemen and a rising name in recruiting.
